Prepare: Determine Basis for Calculation

Your TOS data reader is configured, the RTG Deployer is installed:

  • Setup the yard driving distances by applying yard geometry and driving rules 
  • Describe the yard equipment driving and handling speed
  • Set your target productivity for your fleet of RTGs

No need to set your target at random: measured past RTG productivity is displayed, enabling you to consciously decide to project past performance or set tougher targets for the next shifts.

Yard impact time is calculated in accordance with PM/truck yard driving rules for planned quay crane moves. If planned discharge moves are not assigned to a specific block, set the average PM moving time to calculate the yard impact time for the RTGs.

Calculate: Estimate Volume of RTG Required 

Refresh the TOS data and calculate the RTG volumes required for operating your yard without any waiting time for quay cranes and prime movers.

The number of RTGs required is calculated per time slot allowing you to easily identify peaks, and for example plan for house-keeping moves at low peaks.

Deploy: Decide Volume of RTGs to Deploy

Determine the impact of 'under-deploying' RTGs - hard core factual calculation determining the impact on RTG idle time as well as average PM waiting time, if deploying less RTGs than calculated. Determine when to do house-keeping moves and see the direct mathematically calculated consequence of reaching a certain RTG productivity.

And then decide on your RTG deployments for the next shifts.

Validate: Complete QC Planning and Validate RTG Deployments 

As vessels loading and discharging are planned in your TOS, refresh the TOS data used for the yard impact time calculation, and re-check your planned RTG deployments. Your planning stays up-to-date at all times by a single click.
